Since 2003, Acensium has delivered the brownfield projects general firms avoid — congested facilities, unreliable drawings, fixed outage windows. This is who we are, how we got here, and how we work.
Acensium was founded in 2003 by engineers who kept watching the same project fail the same way: a sound design, built on drawings that no longer matched the facility, discovered during the outage — when it was too late and most expensive to fix.
So we built the firm around a different starting point. Verify what is actually in the plant first. Engineer against those conditions. Simulate how the system will perform before the design is final. Check fabrication against the approved design before it ships. Stay with the project through installation.
Twenty-three years and 1,300+ projects later, that discipline is still the whole business — applied across power generation, manufacturing, pulp and paper, building materials, and bulk processing facilities in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
Started by senior engineers to bring field-verified conditions into retrofit engineering.
Deep specialization in the systems where brownfield risk concentrates — transfer systems, chutes, conveyors, and ASME B31.1 piping.
DEM flow simulation and shop-floor scan verification added, extending engineering control from design intent through fabricated reality.
Our reality capture practice breaks out as AsBuilt — a dedicated company focused on the precision of laser scanning and 3D modeling at scale.
Engineering through execution for operating facilities in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico — with code committee leadership on ASME B31.1.
There is no staffing pyramid at Acensium. The engineers who scope your project are the ones who deliver it — mechanical, structural, and piping specialists with 150+ years of combined experience in operating facilities.
Our engineers walk the facility, climb the structure, and see the constraints firsthand. Designs reflect how the plant actually operates and how the work will actually be built.
Our piping practice includes leadership on the ASME B31.1 power piping code committee — we help write the standard your systems are held to.
We plug into owner and EPC teams as specialist capacity — collaborative in the work, candid about risk, and accountable through installation.
We go see it before we design it. Opinions formed in the plant outrank opinions formed in a meeting.
If the schedule is unrealistic or the scope is wrong, we say so early — collaboratively, and with an alternative.
The job is not done at drawing issue. Engineers stay accountable through fabrication, fit-up, and installation.
Every design decision considers the people who will build, operate, and maintain the system.
At Acensium you will walk operating plants, own your projects from scope through installation, and work alongside senior engineers who share what 150 years of field experience taught them. If you want your designs to leave the screen, we should talk.
