Fabrication verification: find issues in the shop, not the outage

Laser inspection of fabricated assemblies and purchased equipment against the approved design — verified fit before shipment, so field rework never makes it to your schedule.

Deviation analysis comparing laser scan data against the engineering design model

Overview

The best design fails if the fabrication misses tolerance

Complex plate work and fabricated assemblies routinely drift from design during fabrication. Discovered in the field, those deviations cost outage days: reworking fabrication onsite is expensive, slow, and usually produces a lower-quality install. Acensium laser-inspects critical fabrication in the shop, comparing scanned geometry directly against the approved design model.

Deviations are documented with dimensional precision and dispositioned before shipment — corrected at the fabricator, where fixes are cheap. For large equipment, we virtually place the scanned item into the plant model and confirm mounting and interface fit before it ever leaves the factory.

Who this is for

Typical deliverables

What an engagement typically delivers

Every project is scoped to your facility, outage window, and objectives — not from a menu. These are the deliverables most often included in a fabrication verification and laser inspection scope, each produced against verified existing conditions.

01 Shop laser inspection of fabricated assemblies
02 Scan-to-design deviation analysis
03 Dimensional QA reports
04 Virtual fit-up in the plant model
05 Pre-shipment accept/reject disposition
06 Vendor equipment inspection
07 Corrective action verification
08 As-fabricated documentation

FINAL SCOPE DEFINED IN YOUR FUNCTIONAL & OPERATING REQUIREMENTS MEETING

How it works

Verification that travels with the work

STEP 01

Define critical dimensions

Interfaces, mounting points, and tolerance-critical geometry identified from the design model before fabrication starts.

STEP 02

Inspect in the shop

Assemblies are laser scanned at the fabricator and compared point-for-point against the approved design.

STEP 03

Disposition deviations

Out-of-tolerance conditions documented and corrected at the shop — or formally accepted with engineering review — before anything ships.

STEP 04

Confirm virtual fit

Scanned fabrication is placed into the verified plant model: the install is rehearsed digitally before the outage begins.

FAQ

Common questions

At sub-assembly completion and again before shipment. Early checks catch systematic errors while correction is trivial; the final scan confirms what actually ships.
We document the deviation dimensionally and work the disposition with you: correct at the shop, or accept with engineering review when the deviation is benign. Either way, the decision happens before shipping.
No — it verifies it, against the design model rather than shop drawings alone. Fabricators generally welcome it; verified work eliminates back-charges and field disputes.
Yes — vendor equipment is scanned and virtually placed in the plant model, confirming mounting and interface fit before shipment.
